Moxie

Moxie is the first animated companion that helps children build social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

Moxie is an emotive learning companion for children on the autism spectrum, aimed at addressing their unique needs for attention, empathy, and confidence-building.

In partnership with CEO Paolo Pirjanian, Fuseproject was tasked with creating a robot for children on the spectrum, who often lack individualized attention. The goal was to design a companion that could deeply engage them, boosting both their confidence and empathy.

The design process revealed a key insight: Moxie’s large, expressive eyes formed an immediate connection with the children, fostering a sense of trust and engagement. Crafted to respond to the unique emotional and social needs of these kids, Moxie’s empathetic design made a powerful impact, helping children develop both emotionally and socially.

What began as a tool for a specific group evolved into something much larger. The approach, rooted in understanding and personalized interaction, proved effective for all children. Recognizing its broader potential, Moxie was introduced to a wider audience, ensuring that every child could experience its supportive and innovative design.

Moxie exemplifies how thoughtful design and technology can empower children, fostering emotional development and confidence while creating meaningful connections. It’s more than a learning companion—it’s a tool for growth and inclusion.
