LAUFEN
At Fuseproject, we are dedicated to pioneering sustainable solutions that enhance everyday experiences. Our recent collaboration with LAUFEN, a leader in ceramic innovation, exemplifies this commitment through the creation of — VOLTA a collection of bathroom ceramics that harmonize sustainability with a renewed connection to water.
Central to this collaboration is LAUFEN’s groundbreaking development of the world’s first electric kiln powered entirely by solar energy. This 100-meter industrial e-kiln sets new standards in sustainable manufacturing, enabling the production of zero-emissions ceramic products. The VOLTA collection is the inaugural line to emerge from this innovative kiln, marking it a significant milestone in eco-friendly design.
Drawing from Behar’s lifelong affinity with water—stemming from his experiences on Lake Geneva and his passion for water sports—the VOLTA collection seeks to reintroduce the magic of water’s movement into daily rituals. By focusing on the interior dynamics of the washbasins, we engineered a circular flow that mimics a river’s motion, allowing water to rotate gracefully from the tap to the outlet. This not only offers a captivating visual but also serves practical purposes: it enables temporary pooling for shaving or face washing without the need to fill the entire basin, thereby promoting water conservation. Additionally, the self-cleaning nature of the circular flow simplifies maintenance, as debris is naturally directed towards the outlet.
The exterior design of the sinks reflects this internal movement, featuring clean, round shapes with gently sloped sides. We also integrated LAUFEN’s innovative large outlet system, which eliminates the traditional siphon beneath the sink. This advancement provides a space-saving solution, offering unobstructed aesthetics and enhanced functionality, whether wall-mounted or atop a cabinet.
The VOLTA collection was designed at our Lisbon office and will be unveiled at ISH Frankfurt in mid-March, followed by an exhibition at the Salone in Milan in early April. This collaboration with LAUFEN not only showcases the potential of sustainable manufacturing but also reimagines our interaction with water in domestic spaces, transforming routine tasks into moments of sensory engagement.
Through the VOLTA collection, we aim to enrich the experience of water in the home, blending ecological responsibility with design innovation to create products that are both beautiful and purposeful.

100% Solar
- The VOLTA collection is the first ceramic line fired in LAUFEN’s 100-meter electric kiln, powered entirely by solar energy for zero-emissions production.
30% Savings
- VOLTA’s innovative circular flow design reduces water waste by allowing temporary pooling, conserving up to 30% more water compared to standard sinks.
50% More
- By eliminating the traditional siphon, VOLTA’s large outlet system frees up 50% more storage space beneath the sink, enhancing both form and function.
“Our starting point in the design process was not the outer shape of the basin, but the inner one. We experimented with various methods to set the water inside the basin in motion.”
