The new Archer Farms packaging system reduces materials and shipping cost, resulting in a more sustainable packaging solution.
For Target’s Archer Farms food brand, we developed an innovative lid and box system that dispenses cereal conveniently and efficiently to greatly improve the user experience. This new system uses recycled materials as well as reducing the size, materials use, shipping cost, and energy savings in transportation, resulting in a more sustainable process throughout.
The all-in-one container works to house the cereal on the shelf while keeping it fresh and easy to dispense, creating a more holistic and fresh approach for the consumer. This design solution eliminated the need to repackage cereal to maintain freshness after opening. Thus this system also eliminates extra packaging waste and reduces the need for an additional container after use to preserve freshness.
We replaced the traditional folded box with a wrapped cardboard canister that eliminates folded paperboard and results in less wasted cardboard during production. Still fully recyclable, we achieved a moister barrier comparable to the traditional plastic bag.
Its friction fit lid easily seals and re-seals, protects the contents during shipment and is iconic for the Archer Farms brand.
A small foil seal at the mouth of the box. Heat-sealed onto the opening, the foil keeps the contents fresh and waste material to a bare minimum.
The design of an entire system is focused on the user and is an innovative take on traditional food packaging. The Archer Farms Cereal box provides the user with an iconic point of sale, a unique and intuitive shape to the box, and a system to preserve the contents within the cereal box.
