Canopy

CANOPY is a series of forward-thinking workspaces located in the heart of where people work and live, co-founded by fuseproject CEO Yves Behar along with Amir Mortazavi and Steve Mohebi. Delivering an elevated design aesthetic, a sophisticated membership program, and a concierge-style amenities program, CANOPY centers on the premise that where you work impacts performance and expresses identity. The spaces are an exercise in visual expression that strives to create a harmonious and thoughtful balance between focused work, collaboration and social moments. The Canopy identity is designed by fuseproject, and the environments are a collaboration between Amir Mortazavi of Mprojects and Yves Behar. A mixture of Herman Miller Yves Behar designed furniture and San Francisco craft and influences make up both a dynamic and locally inspired aesthetic.

Jackson Square

Strong site-lines organize the 13,000-square foot space, with the brand’s signature glass-enclosed private offices lining one side, and a café with open workspaces on the other. In the center, an organic canopy inspired lounge is a place-making architectural feature intended to encourage both casual conversations and work meetings. The dramatic architectural canopy is built around three columns as a freestanding fanning structure that doubles as book and magazine shelving. The tree-like design serves as both a visual privacy screen to the conference room and work areas, as well as a containment of the lounge area. All areas were designed to allow natural light to filter in from multiple directions.

The color palette is a nod to its location amid the neighborhoods of North Beach, Jackson Square, the Financial District, and Chinatown. The various materials, textures, and colors were selected to contrast and harmonize with local architecture and culturally significant locations, including the Transamerica Pyramid, Coppola Sentinel building and City Lights bookstore

Two other Canopy co-working spaces were designed in Pacific Heights and the financial district by the design team. Using marble columns and chevron flooring in the first and brick and local timber in the second, these locations are equally dramatic and yet connect specifically with the neighborhoods they are within. Signature glass enclosed offices, and a mix of local and Herman Miller furniture deliver comfort, efficiency and consistency between all Canopy working environments.
