At fuseproject we’re focused on designing a better future– helping develop products, brands, and experiences that make people’s lives better and have a positive impact on the world around us. So, we’re thrilled to share a major milestone for one of our projects that’s making the world a safer and more well-rested place. SNOO, the world’s first smart bassinet, recently announced that babies have spent 50+ million hours sleeping in SNOOs without a single infant death reported.
The tragedy of infant sleep death affects 3,600 American families every year, so SNOO’s accomplishment represents a huge leap forward in infant safety. One of the lead causes of infant deaths is stomach sleeping and the American Academy of Pediatrics advises that babies should sleep only on their backs for the first 6 months. The reality is that while back sleeping is the safest, many babies fight sleeping on their back. Making things worse, over-tired parents are more likely to be forgetful and fail to adhere to safe sleeping recommendations.
The SNOO was designed to solve both of these problems, improving the amount and quality of sleep as well as improving the safety of that sleep. SNOO improves sleep quality by intelligently responding to a baby’s crying and movement with womb-like motion and soothing sounds, which studies have shown add 1–2 hours to a baby’s and parents’ nightly sleep. As for safety, SNOO was designed from the ground up to meet the strictest regulations and delivers several innovative solutions to safety issues for bassinets. The seamless mesh sidewall design is breathable and soft and also allows parents to see their baby from across the room.
Safety is further bolstered by the specially designed Sleep Sack, which must be properly attached to the bassinet to activate the SNOO. This guarantees that babies stay safely swaddled and securely on their backs during sleep. All of this makes SNOO the only bed to meet the American Academy of Pediatrics’ back sleeping recommendation.
It’s no surprise that we love SNOO at fuseproject. The design combines innovations in AI and robotics along with baby-centered design to deliver a first of its kind product that’s having a positive impact on the lives of newborns and parents. We love SNOO so much that we’ve made it a benefit for our employees, who can borrow a SNOO to help the first few months transitioning into life with their newest family member. Over 50 companies have followed suit including Activision Blizzard, Snap, Hulu, Weight Watchers, Under Armour, and more, who use SNOO to support new parents and strengthen retention, loyalty, and productivity.
