Senior Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Financial Operations Team in San Francisco to support day to day operations and month end close procedures.

Taking a long-term approach to developing products, experiences and brands, fuseproject works globally and across a wide array of industries as diverse as technology, furniture, fashion, environmental design, and consumer goods.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Financial Operations Team in San Francisco to support day to day operations and month end close procedures.

This role will play an integral part in the accounting close process with opportunities to work on various projects as we scale. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently but also as part of a collaborative, fun-loving team. This position will report to the Senior Finance Manager while working closely with the Client Services team to manage the AR process (invoicing, collections, contract management).

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Own GL related month-end close tasks and ensure financials are in accordance with GAAP (specifically with receivables, prepaid expenses, expense analysis, allocations & intercompany charges)
  • Manage Accounts Receivable process by working closely with Client Services team to process client billings and collections according to contract terms; as well as owernships of accounts receivable aging
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and trend analyses
  • Analyze Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Participate in the year-end audit and tax preparations
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and projects as needed
  • Serve as secondary support in the processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports for compliance with company policy, proper approval authority, and accuracy

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 5+ years of corporate accounting or public accounting experience (or a combination of both)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics (CPA considered a plus)
  • Exceptional with Excel and other MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Previous work experience with an expense report system
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to research discrepancies to solve problems
  • Proven ability for clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong project management skills and understanding of financial and operational controls
  • Ability to work independently, maintain tight deadlines, solve problems proactively
  • Experience with full-cycle GL close process
  • Technical and comprehensive knowledge of accounting and tax areas of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAP
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers); demonstrate professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving
